Some like it hot is movie which you will see in many “best/greatest movie” lists. It was a movie which i wanted to see for a long time. Ever since the Odd Couple and Grumpy Old Men i’ve been a big fan of Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. Because Jack Lemmon is starring in this movie, together with Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe it was a movie i had to see and which i enjoyed a lot!
The movie starts as a gangster movie and slowly introduces Curtis and Lemmon, who after a while need to dress like women and join a women’s band (just watch the movie, as this makes sense). Of course this is the setup for many very funny situations. Lemmon’s scene with the maracas is my favorite and i couldn’t stop laughing. Another classic scene in this movie is the one where Marilyn Monroe sings “I wanna be loved by you” in a very revealing outfit. Every scene she is in is magic. Those scenes took a lot of takes before they could finish shooting because Marilyn kept forgetting her lines. Many of them needed to be written down for her. When you see the movie though, you hardly notice it.
As a comedy it has quite a long running time (2 hours), but time flies when watching this. Some like it hot deservers it’s title as a classic movie. More than 40 years after the release of this movie it still hasn’t lost any of it’s power to entertain.

He usually is in his movies. Watched the Apartment probably about a month ago and he was also very amusing in that.
