The weekend is almost here, which of course means it is time to reminisce on all the movie roles of a specific actor or actress. Scarletsp1der (who’s blog is worth checking out) requested one with Tom Hardy. Of course everyone is looking forward to seeing him as Bale in the new Batman movie, but looking at his past roles he has been in some great movies. He started out in Band of Brothers and Black Hawk Down and has been steadily climbing the ladders of stardom. Most people will know him from his performance in Inception, but in his 10 year career he has shown how versatile he is.
As for picking my favorite role, it’s not a difficult one. He was amazing in Bronson, in which he looked massive, scary and basically disappeared playing his part as the most violent prisoner in Britain:

Yes, probably my favourite actor of the last year. Loved him in Inception, Bronson and his appearance in Layer Cake. Really looking forward to see how he handles Bane.

Very glad to see this segment feature good ol’ Tom Hardy’s mugshot! As I have been paying more attention to him, he truly has surprised me and sneaked into several roles I had no idea about prior.

Yes, he was in Band of Brothers (I must admit I have only seen a couple of episodes). I suggest you watch Bronson, it’s really his movie.

Bearing in mind Band of Brothers was put 10 years ago, it’s taken Hardy a while to get where he is. I think I like his performances in Inception and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy the best. I’ve added Bronson to my rental list so hopefully I’ll see it soon.

Excellent choice of character actor!
Tom Hardy first caught my attention as Handsome Bob in ‘RocknRolla’. Where he held his own quite well with Gerard Butler, Mark Strong and Idris Elba. There was an ease in his role that was refreshing, not forced and intriguing.
Which caused an itch to seek out his earlier work in ‘Layer Cake’, ‘Band Of Brothers’ and ‘Black Hawk Down’. Where Hardy showed impressive reach in range from comic relief to serious dramatic contender as Eames in ‘Inception’. Where he was the perfect, polite foil for both DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Looking forward very much to seeing him as Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and Rikki Tarr. The low level spy who gets the ball rolling in in ‘Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy’.
Hi Jack, thanks. I have seen RocknRolla, but can’t remember anything about it, the movie wasn’t very good in my opinion. He definitely has shown that he’s got a wide range!

To be perfectly honest, I have only seen him into two films: INCEPTION and LAYER CAKE. But they were both brilliant.
Haven’t seen Layer Cake myself, but knowing your taste in movies it is one I should be checking out. You should give Bronson a chance…
