Battle of the Bad Guys: Round 1 – The Joker vs. Amon Goeth

A very interesting battle today between two very unpredictable men. Time to vote after the break!

Heath Ledger's Joker

The Joker

Movie villains are usually pretty straightforward. The Joker in The Dark Knight wasn’t as you have no idea what he will do next, just like him it seems.

versus

Schindler's List

Amon Goeth

This nazi strikes fear in everyone in the concentration camp as he terrorises it by shooting people at random. Knowing that this character is based on a real person makes him even more scary.

  1. These are too tough to actually vote for. These two roles and the others before it are iconic. How do I ever choose between two of the greatest villains?

I did actually choose Joker for this round, but it could’ve easily went the other way.

  2. Hi, Nostra and company:

    More big guns…. Cool!

    The Joker.

For his flat laugh, flair for the dramatic, great quips, fetish for knives and hand grenade laden ‘Negotiation Vest’.

Pulling off the polar opposite and equal of The Dark Knight with style and elan without being corny or campy.

  3. As you know I haven’t seen Schindler’s List, so I’ll give this vote a miss. Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker was fantastic, though. He was a very worthy opponent of the Bat. Definitely one of Ledger’s best performance in his short career.

  4. As you pointed out Goeth is scarier because he is based on a real person. I voted for him. If I were to just look at the films, I would have voted for the Joker

  5. I think Goeth is far scarier because there were people like him. His cold, dead eyes alone give me the chills. The Joker may be batty, but at least he won’t kill you just on the base of ethnicity alone. In any case, I wouldn’t want to come across either one of them on a dark alley!!
