This week’s choice for “The Many Faces of…” is method actor Daniel Day-Lewis. Although he might not have played in as many movies as other actors (only 4 movies were released since 1997 where he starred) he received two Oscars for his roles in There Will Be Blood and My Left Foot. He was also nominated for Gangs of New York and In the Name of the Father. This is an actor where you know you can expect something special once he decides to commit to a movie and I’m looking forward to seeing him as Lincoln. The movie is currently being filmed.
I haven’t seen all of his movies, but having to pick a favorite I will have to go with Bill the Butcher in Gangs of New York. He faced off against Hans Gruber at the start of the Battle of the Bad Guys, which is currently still undecided (it’s at 50/50). So you still got a chance to vote if you haven’t yet.

First time I saw him is in ‘Last of Mohicans’, and my sister used to have a crush on him. I can see why 🙂 The latest of him maybe on ‘Nine’. He’s so much into his character.
Haven’t seen Last of the Mohicans, but knowing how good he is as an actor it is a movie I still want to see. Also haven’t seen Nine yet…

Man! another great choice for my fave segment!!! Daniel Day-Lewis. I haven’t seen too much of his work, but I really liked There Will Be Blood.
Let me be clear. I at first didn’t even want to see There Will Be Blood, but once I started watching it, I was sold! His performance was solid and deserving of the awards he won because of it!!

Oh man, this excellent actor definitely is a GREAT choice for this series, Nostra. Scott said it best, who dared to dis him, and really, you can’t even if you tried! He’s always convincing whether playing a Mohican warrior or a Victorian-era gentleman… there’s really no role too big for this guy.
And the fact that he isn’t in a lot of movies makes you appreciate him even more!

i just reviewed Last of the Mohicans, as an added bonus its one of the best Michael Mann films. O and you are probably going to want to purchase a gunstock warclub when you are done watching it.
One of the best actors ever to be in cinema. I think he is one of those people that can make even an okay movie into a really good one simply by his performance. Just like you, I haven’t seen all his movies, but he was the only performance I liked in Gangs and for me his best performance has to be in There Will Be Blood.
I forgot most of Gangs of New York except for his performance. Bill the Butcher is so memorable (like many of his roles).
I can’t pick my favourite role; it’s either IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER or THERE WILL BE BLOOD. Probably BLOOD.

One of my favorite actors. ‘There Will Be Blood’ and ‘Gangs of New York’ are the highlights for me.

Superb actor! Another favourite of mine after DeNiro. Such an intense performer and I wouldnt dare choose a best performance. Although Gangs and Blood stick out his portrayal of Christy brown in My Left Foot is also a masterclass. Just too many to choose.

Well i watch a lot of movies i seen a lot of actors , i can say there is actors a lot of actors and Daniel Day Lewis i can call him with all respect an artist actor , he really present a an excellent work, i saw him in Gangs, Blood, Mohicans, and only from those 3 you can judge the men and i will look to see all his work , the men is great ! like in Gangs leonardo supposed to be the main story but the butcher i mean that the men that stick in the head ! he totally eclipsed all the others ..
Yeah, he’s a force to be reckoned with in everything he is in!
