The Monday Question: Interview!

Last week I was able to interview Paul Verhoeven about his new movie and was also able to talk to him about his thoughts on remakes and his experience at the Razzies. It was great meeting him and hearing him talk about movies with so much passion. The alotted time flew by and it was a great experience. It made me think about other directors/actors/actresses I would like to interview. The first director on my mind was Quentin Tarantino, who is known for his extensive movie knowledge and of course the entertaining way he speaks. Kevin Smith would be another choice because he has so many crazy stories about the making of his films.

If you had to possibility to interview any actor/actress/director, who would you interview and why?

  1. Great question Nostra! Hmmm, I don’t know really… there are so many directors I wish I could interview. If I could go with a filmmaker who’s no longer living, I wish I could ask William Wyler on how he filmed the iconic chariot race in Ben-Hur.

  2. J.J. Abrams. My first question: “How enviable do you feel right now, directing Star Wars and Star Trek?” At the end of the interview: “Well, that was fun. May the force be with you and may you live long and prosper, sir.”

  3. I would like to do an interview with David Lynch. He would be very interesting to talk to and I’d ask him some questions about his movies. Also if he was still alive I would do one with Stanley Kubrick.

  4. Hmmmm that is a great topic…. I wouldn’t mind interviewing Ryan Gosling cause I know he would agree to conduct the interview during a trip to Disneyland. Interviewing director Wes Anderson would be pretty epic as well.

    • Thanks. Gosling has been in the business for so long, so he would have a lot of interesting stuff to say. I’d like to know where he would like to be in regards to his movies in say ten years.

  5. I’d interview Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone and my first question will be “how do you guys feel working together in TWO movies as romantically sexually partners?”

    • Well, I don’t think he has changed much. I still listen to Hollywood Babble On and read his book a while ago. He knows how to tell stories.

Kidman is also an interesting actress to interview.

      • His whole “all critics are bad and evil and out to get me” shctick just got really annoying to me. Also i remember after he kept complaining about people criticizing Red State, and then a few weeks later on his Hulu show he criticized Rock of Ages.I unfollowed him on twitter after that, as i felt he descended into full blown hypocrisy on that one.

  6. I’d interview Stanley Kubrick if he was still alive and I’d talk to him for hours on end about each and every one of his films. I’d particularly like to ask him about The Shining and whether he intended all the meanings that people have drawn from it or whether they’re just nutjobs!

    • I think it is best when some things remain mysterious or open for interpretation, just look at something like Blade Runner…it adds something appealing to it. It would be cool to pick his brain though about his movies if that was possible.

  7. Great question, Nostra.

I think I would like to ask Morgan Freeman what, to him, has been his greatest accomplishment and what his favorite role that he has been in was.

and, if he could go back in time and talk to a 30yr old version of himself, what would he tell that young Morgan Freeman? (why 30yrs old? because that’s my age right now)

  8. Joss Whedon. He comes across as such a genuine and NICE person to interview. I usually hate the word nice, but I mean it in a good way here.

Chris Nolan too. Fan of pretty much every single one of his films. I think there’s only one I haven’t seen – his first ever one.

Nicholas Cage – why on earth he’s gone bat shit crazy.

Morgan Freeman – just because I could listen to him talk about anything and everything. Man has got a fantastic voice!

  9. My first choices of DeNiro and David Lynch have been taken so I’ll go with Lars von Trier. His film’s are always thought provoking and controversial and I’d like to hear his thoughts on fascist dictators 😉
