Overview

Channing Tatum was born on April 26, 1980 in Cullman, Alabama. As he was growing up he was always participating in various sports (football, soccer, martial arts among many others). He eventually went to Glenville State College on a football scholarship, but decided to drop out. He went back home and after doing various jobs he worked as a stripper (Chan Crawford). When he moved to Miami he was noticed by a talent scout. His first casting was that of a dancer in Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs” video. He also modelled for Armani and did other commercials. He kept doing his modeling work. His first acting appearance was on the hit show CSI: Miami in 2004 and since 2005 he started appearing in movies, like A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Coach Carter, Step Up, Fighting, Public Enemies, 21 Jump Street and the G.I. Joe movies amongst many others.

  1. You know what? While I’m not a fan of Tatum, I respect him. I remember reading an interview with him last year where he mentioned that he knew he wasn’t the best of actors and that he was okay with it. He came across incredibly well.

    He’s been involved in some impressive films with Soderbergh.

    Found it funny that one of the other reasons why they put the GI Joe sequel release date back was because test audiences were expecting more Channing Tatum! Guess they didn’t expect him to get so big.

  2. I didn’t know before that he was a real stripper once (well-duh!). I couldn’t help but noticing her as I am a girl. I remembered first seeing him with Amanda Bynes in She’s The Man. I think he showed his seriousness these couple of years as an actor, not just relying on his good looks. Glad to see him risen up.

  3. Ol’ Channing. I’ve had several debates about him. I’ve yet to see him give a performance that blew me away. On the other hand, I’ve seen him give several bad performances. So for me the verdict is still out!
