The Monday Question: Best seat!

The Monday Question

When it comes to going to the cinema we all have our preferences when it comes to seating. I know this is not possible everywhere, but here you have the possibility when you buy/reserve tickets online to pick out the seats you want to sit. I always pick seat dead in the middle of the theater as i think that is the best place to enjoy the movie. If I sit too close to the screen I feel that I can’t catch all the details of the film, sit too far and it takes away a bit from the experience. So this week’s question is an easy one:

What to you is the best seat to sit at the cinema?

  1. Great question Nostra. My spot is four rows from the front, in the centre which is a lot closer than most people like. I find from there I can see the whole screen without moving my head. But also I am close enough that I feel right ‘in’ the film.

In cinemas with really big screens, I occasionally sit a row or two further back slightly off to the left.

    • I can understand that feeling of being in the movie. When I’m alone at home watching a movie I’ll usually sit quite close to the screen as the experience is even better. At the cinema though it is a bit too much for me.

  2. Back of the 2nd third of the cinema, middle of the row. The sound quality there is uniform and equally balanced. Like Goldilocks might say – it’s just right.

  3. Yep I like to go roughly in the middle too, maybe slightly further back. I used to prefer to be at the back but I’m actually slowly moving forward it seems, probably due to getting distracted by people on their ruddy phones! The further forward you sit, the fewer people with phones you encounter!

  4. Ideally I like to sit at the center and towards the back, but since I attend lots of press screenings, I can’t be so picky anymore as the seats are assigned.

  5. One without loud or annoying people nearby is my honest answer. I recently saw a movie that was ruined by some old lady always giving a heavy sigh after something happened. But seat wise, I like to sit in the middle or somewhere with no in front of me (need the leg space) or behind me (no kicking). I like the middle dead center or a little off center if I can get those bars in front of me so I can have the leg room.

  6. Depends. If it’s a stadium-style cinema with one large section of seats, then I prefer middle of the row, in the first three rows of the seats (not the ones really close to the screen). If it’s an older-style cinema with a large middle section and two smaller sections on the sides, I’ll go to a side, still around the middle, whichever one has less people.
