The Many Faces of… Andrew Garfield

The Many Faces of Andrew Garfield

With the release in the US of The Amazing Spiderman 2 I thought it was a nice moment to take a look at the career of Andrew Garfield. He was born on 20 August 1983 in Los Angeles. At the age of 3 his parent moved to the United Kingdom where he grew up in Epsom, Surrey. Growing up he swimmed and did gymnastics. He wanted to study business, but he took an interest in acting. He took acting classes and started working in stage acting. He won several theatre awards. His first roles were mainly on British TV in series like Sugar Rush, Swining, Trial & Retribution and Doctor Who. His first American movie was Lions for Lambs in 2007, followed by a role in The Other Boleyn Girl, Red Riding television tirlogy and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. He got bigger roles in Never Let Me Go and The Social Network, but it was his starring role in The Amazing Spider-man which really made him well-known.

    • Boy A I have not seen, the other two are pretty good films. I think Spiderman is my favorite, although Social Network was good too.

  1. So far, my favorite performance from him is in The Social Network yet my favorite film he’s in is Never Let Me Go.

I also recommend Boy A as I also thought he was good in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus and Red Riding 1974. I’m sure there’s more to come from him.

    • I had not heard of Boy A. Since Brittani also mentioned it I guess I should check that one out. He’s still young, so there is enough to come!

  2. I have come to like Garfield very much. I was captivated by his role in Never Let Me Go. Wow! and he did a great job in The Social Network. But it is his passion and performance as Spider-Man/Peter Parker (my favorite comicbook character) that has really made him a favorite actor of mine.

This is a great choice for “The Many Faces of”! Wonderful installment. Glad it’s still going.

    • Thanks T. I still try to keep it going although I don’t manage to do it every week anymore, time just doesn’t allow it sometimes.

I know how much you love Spiderman so no surprise he is a favorite actor of yours 🙂

  3. I was impressed w/ him in Boy A and Never Let Me Go. I quite enjoyed the first Amazing Spider-Man, but this sequel, not really looking forward to it.

  4. Wow…and there was me thinking he’d only ever done Spider-Man! That said, I forgot he was in Never Let Me Go – a very good film.

  5. I’ve liked him ever since Boy A, my favourite is The Social Network, I still remember the “Sorry! My Prada’s at the cleaners! Along with my hoodie and my fuck you flip-flops, you pretentious douchebag!” line. He killed it as Eduardo and ofc as Spidey. I didn’t like the previous Spidey flicks, but Andrew made me change my mind and his chemistry with Emma Stone is beautiful.
