The Monday Question: Think!

The Monday Question

I recently saw the movie Enemy starring Jake Gyllenhaal (review will be up tomorrow) and it is one of those movies that you will not be able to forget any time soon. In this case it is because you want answers to specific questions which the movie might give. It is one of those movies that requires a rewatch and where you hope that will prove your ideas about it were right.

Which movie stayed with you for a while after seeing it?

  1. Tough question. Documentaries stay with me longer than features.

The last feature that stuck with me also happens to be a Jake Gyllenhall film: “Prince of Persia”…just kidding. “Prisoners” actually stuck with me for a while. It’s easy to jump to conclusions and not allow due process to move forward, and “Prisoners” shows how far a train can go off the tracks in a very plausible way.

  2. There hasn’t been a movie that I saw that has stuck with me for a long time, haven’t seen Enemy yet. So I’ll go old school, I saw Come And See years ago and that film stuck with me for a long time, it’s quite an experience seeing that film.

  3. I’m with Brittani. HER really left me quite emotional and it stayed long afterwards. I love thought provoking films like that, plus it’s just gorgeous to look at!

  4. I’d say Under The Skin too, in terms of recent films. Still thinking about that occasionally even though I saw it two weeks ago.
Also certain scenes from the Inarritu film Biutiful stayed in my head a long time afterwards. That’s one of my favourite films from the past 5 years.

    • Hope to be able to check that one out as it has not been released. Biutiful is still on my to watch list and has been for a while…still need to check it out.

  5. Can’t think of many off the top of my head. But since you mentioned Jake – Prisoners stuck with me for a while. So did Changeling with Angie. Horrific stories.

Documentary films are more the types of films that really stay with me. The last that did that was Blackfish. I still go back and think about it …

    • Yeah, Prisoners was amazing. Have not seen Changeling….

Blackfish made lots of impact and rightly so…hope it changes the industry a bit.

  6. Two foreign films I watched last month have stayed with me since: Incendies and 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days. Both are incredibly powerful films that deal with some really difficult subjects.

I can’t wait to see Enemy.

    • Incendies is a very powerful movie…and one you will never forget. The other movie I don’t know but will look up some info about it.

Looking forward to your thoughts on Enemy.
