The Many Faces of… Rosamund Pike

It’s funny how an actor sometimes stands out in a specific movie and when you look back at her of his career it’s surprising how many movies you saw her/him in without remembering them. For me this was the case with Rosamund Pike. I have never noticed her until recently seeing her in Gone Girl. Looking back at her career it was shocking to see that I never noticed her in other films.

Rosamund Pike was born 27 January 1979 in Hammersmith, London. Her parents were opera singers, which means they travelled a lot through Europe. When she acted in a production of Romeo and Juliet at the National Youth Theatre (playing Juliet) she was noticed by an agent and it meant the start of her career. She gained experience doing plays and while still studying she started to do various TV shows including A Rather English Marriage, Wives and Daughters and Love in a Cold Climate. She almost considered a different career until she was offered the role of Bond girl in Die Another Day. This kickstarted her movie career and she has acted in various films including The Libertine, Doom, Pride & Prejudice, Fracture, Made in Dagenham, Barney’s Version, Wrath of the Titans, Jack Reacher, The World’s End and Gone Girl.

    • Have not seen her in Barney’s Version. I really liked her in World’s End (as I did the movie). Didn’t know it was her though at the time as Gone Girl has put her on the radar for me.

  1. Right now, Gone Girl. She fucking kicked ass in that film. I also liked her in The World’s End which showed how funny she can be. She’s also great in Barney’s Version and Pride & Prejudice.

    • Yeah, I think it will be the movie which has put her in the spotlight for many and which will give her the ability to get more interesting roles like that one.

  2. I actually haven’t seen a whole lot of her films, unfortunately. Of course, I thought she was excellent in Gone Girl. I’ve heard she’s great in Pride & Prejudice, so I’d like to check out that version just to see her in it.

  3. I first saw her in Gone Girl, and I know now that any movie I see her in since I’ll just see Amy playing the part and not Rosamond. (Amy does a pretty convincing British accent, but what can’t she do?)
