Two Night Stand (2014)

Review Two Night Stand

Although I hate generalizing I do think that the romcom genre mainly appeals to the female part of moviegoers who like to dream about love for a moment watching to people who are “meant for each other” trying to get across some obstacles in their way before they get together. It means I’m not the biggest fan of the genre, being a man, and usually skip a lot of them. But as Miles Tiller managed to wow me with his peformance in Whiplash I had to give this more a chance to see how he did in this genre.

Review Two Night Stand

The story revolves around Megan (Analeigh Tipton), who hasn’t had sex for a long time after her last relationship ended. She hasn’t been looking for a man in her life, but her roommate Faiza (Jessica Szohr) convinces her to do something she would normally never do: Find a one night stand online. She comes into contact with Alec (Miles Teller) and the two decide to meet up in Alec’s apartment. After sharing the bed and an argument Megan wants to leave, but a blizzard makes this impossible and forced the two of them having to spend more time together.

Bespreking Two Night Stand

Two Night Stand shows how to individuals get to know each other better when they are ‘sentenced’ to each other. In this case most of that time is spent on discussing what could be better in the bedroom based on their one night stand. The dialog is ok, but often not funny enough (but I’ll have to admit there was one game related remark which really made me laugh). Both Tipton and Teller act fine, but the spark between them isn’t always convincing. The script also doesn’t manage to stay away from various cliches, resulting in an ending which feels extremely unrealistic given what has happened before. The movie might be enjoyable for a quick watch, but will quickly be forgotten because the movie has so many movies which are far superior.
