Ride Along 2 (2015) – Review

Review Ride Along 2

When a movie is a success it is always tempting for a movie studio to consider making a sequel. With an estimated budget of 25 million dollaras and worldwide earnings of 153 million making this second movie was a no-brainer. I’ve tried watching the original three times, but didn’t manage to stay awake during any of those attempts. So I wasn’t really looking forward to this second part, but I do think that Kevin Hart can be amusing sometimes I decided to give it a chance.

Review Ride Along 2

Police officers Ben Barber (Kevin Hart) and James Payton (Ice Cube) are back and are trying to arrest a drugsdealer. When not everything goes according to plan, they discover some information which leads them to Miami. Together with local hacker A.J. (Ken Jeong) they try to find out what shrewd businessman Antonio Pope (Benjamin Bratt) is doing. Because of that, they end up in a couple of very dangerous situations.

“Fun if you are in the mood for it…”

Ride Along 2 is not a movie you’ll see to watch beautifully framed shot, deep rooted philosophical conversations or Oscar-winning performances. It is one you’ll watch for crazy moments, Kevin Hart doing odd stuff and Ice Cube playing the straight guy. And that is exactly what this movie offers. You’ll forget the story immediately after seeing it, but it succeeded in keeping me amused (and awake). Pretty fun if you are in the mood for it.
