One Way Trip (2016) – Review

Review One Way Trip

Four friends have come up with a fantastic plan. Sang-Woo (Suho) is about to go into the army, but before that happens, they want to take him to the port town of Pohan to have fun. They borrow a van and all sneak away from either their parents or the place they are staying. What should be a great weekend however, turns into a nightmare when the four of them are chased by the police. Why this is the case and what has happened is slowly revealed throughout the film.

Glory Day review

What did these guys do? Are they guilty? How do they deal with the situation themselves? These are all questions answered in One Way Trip and the film does so in a way you sympathize with these young people. Their situation is complicated and there are so many emotions that they struggle to find their footing. Can they handle the pressure the police puts on them? Will they be able to stay with their story or decide to change them when their parents also get involved? Or are they only going to think about themselves and put the blame on someone else?

A small, but nice dramatic film…

The four young actors all put down strong performances and director Jeong-Yeol Choi keeps the viewer in suspense about the ultimate fate of all of them, to keep you on the edge of your seat. A small but nice dramatic film.
