Naked (2017) – Review

Recensie Naked
The Wayans brothers made their career with comedy and although some films were too bland for words, there were occasional entertaining films (White Chicks, Scary Movie, Mo’Money). Whatever your opinion of them, at least you know what kind of humor you can expect from their films and occasionally that works. Naked is the latest film in which Marlon Wayans plays the leading role (he also co-wrote the script) and it can best be summarized as Groundhog Day where one hour is repeated and in which Rob Anderson (Wayans) always wake up naked in an elevator.

Review Naked

Rob is about to marry Megan Swope (Regina Hall). The evening before the wedding, he decides to drink something with his best man, after which he ends up in an always repeating hour. Of course, it is primarily about the fact that he is naked and how others react, but slowly he tries to do everything right so that he can get married within the hour.

” is it entertaining? Reasonably…”

Of course you know in advance that this film never reaches the same level as Groundhog Day. It is also not the first film that uses the concept of an ever repeating moment in time, but for what it is, it is quite ok. It has typical Wayan jokes and the jokes regularly hit their mark (if you can appreciate his humor). He tries to find out how he ended up in the elevator naked, to make his wedding perfect while he also helping others. Is this an original comedy? Far from that, but is it entertaining? Reasonably.
