The 101-Year-Old Man Who Skipped Out on the Bill and Disappeared (2016) – Review

Recensie The 101 Year Old Man

The 100-year-old Man Who Climbed out of the Window and Disappeared was a movie that really entertained me . With its light tone, humour and Forrest Gump-like stories that 100-year-old Allan Karlsson (Robert Gustafsson) tells about his life, it was a film which was fun to watch. The follow-up has been available on Netflix for a while and has an even longer title.

Review The 101 Year Old Man

After Allan and his friends from the first film have spent all the money they got their hands on, the question is what will be the next step in their lives. During the 101st birthday of Allan he pours out his last bottle of “folksoda”. The taste of that bottle, which was Russia’s answer to Coca Cola, is so good that the others want more of it. Allan remembers that it is no longer being made, but that he still knows where he can find the formula for it. It is the beginning of a new search through Russia and Sweden, where Allan and his group are being chased by others who also want to get hold of the formula.

“repetition of moves…”

This sequel actually does exactly the same as the original movie and is a repetition of moves, which make it feel a bit stale. The situations which Allan talks about are still bizarre, because of the original movie you expect that. The same humor is still present and if you have enjoyed the first movie when Allan climbed out of the window, then you’ll probably still want to see this second part, as long as your expectations are not too high.
