Pitch Perfect (2012)

Review of the movie Pitch Perfect with Anna Kendrick

There are some movies which seem to fly underneath the radar and don’t get the attention they deserve. I hadn’t heard of Pitch Perfect before until I saw it reviewed on a fellow blogger’s site. I saw the poster and looked at the trailer (because I expected not to watch it) and really wasn’t sold on it. Then more positive reviews started coming in and I just couldn’t ignore the movie. Is it really perfect or slightly out of tune? Continue reading

The Many Faces of… Anna Kendrick

Overview of the roles of actress Anna Kendrick in her career

Anna Kendrick was born in Portland, Maine on August 9, 1985. She appeared on stage at the age of 12 in the Broadway musical High Society in August 1998. Her performance was impressive and it earned her a Tony award nomination and she won the Theatre World Award. She performed in several musicals and in 2003 she appeared in the TV show The Mayor. In the same year she also made her movie debut in the film Camp. A big audience saw her for the first time in the Twilight movies, but she was also in movies like Up in the Air, 50/50, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, End of Watch and Paranorman. Continue reading

50/50 (2011)

50/50 review

Sometimes you must not believe everything you read. I try to read as little as I can about any movie I want to see, but I did catch some things about 50/50. Everywhere I read about this movie it was described as “a comedy about cancer”. I can imagine a lot of people being shocked about that. How can you make fun of something so serious and I was interested to find out how it was handled. Last year I wouldn’t have believed that a comedy about terrorism would be, but Four Lions showed that you can make anything funny. So what’s the verdict on 50/50? Continue reading

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)

Those that have read my Youth in Revolt review know that I really had it with Michael Cera. Not because he’s a bad actor, but because he seems to be playing the same character in each movie he does, which is the role of an insecure teenager (although he’s already 22), who’s very clumsy and despite that manages to get with the girl of his dreams. It’s a shame he’s being typecast, because I think he’s capable of playing different roles. Does Scott Pilgrim vs. the World give Cera the opportunity to show another side of his range as an actor? Yes and no. Continue reading

Up in the air (2009)

George Clooney, Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga star in this comedy/drama. Clooney is Ryan Bingham, whose job it is to fire people. Because of this he constantly has to travel around the US. He’s living in his own perfect little world. Because of a change in company policy he has to allow Natalie to enter his world. Continue reading
