According to some people Ridley Scott has lost the magic he once had. The director who made his name with movies like Alien, Blade Runner and also created Gladiator would not be able to make movies with the same quality anymore. For many Prometheus wasn’t the return to the Alien univers they wanted and The Counselor was basically destroyed by the critics. Exodus: Gods and Kings is Scott’s latest movie and is the second bible story in a short time to receive the movie treatment after Noah. Exodus is about the story of Moses. Continue reading

Harsh Times is directed by David Ayer, who was also responsible to one of my favorite movies of last year, End of Watch. Welcome to a new installment, this week featuring English actor Christian Bale. He was born in 1974. His father was a commercial pilot and his mother worked in the circus. He did his first acting in commercials (for Lenor and Pacman). In 1986 he started appearing in movies and it was his performance in 1987’s Empire of the Sun which earned him lots of praise. He considered quitting, but was convinced to continue acting, which has resulted in an impressive career. He is willing to do a lot for his roles as he has lost massive amounts (up to 30 kilos) of weight to play his roles in The Machinist, Rescue Dawn and The Fighter and gaining it back for roles he did in between. Over the years there have so many movies about boxers. Of course the most famous movies are the Rocky films and when you look at the pictures of The Fighter you’d expect a similar kind of movie.
