Spectre (2015) – Review

Review Spectre

The James Bond franchise is one of the longest running ones in movie history. With its 24th movie, there still is a huge audience wanting to see 007. It’s a character that’s still appealling. This does mean that the world in which it is set needs adjusting once in a while to remain relevant. When Daniel Craig took over the baton from Pierce Brosnan in Casino Royale the series moved away from the weird gadgets en the secret agent lived in a realistic world which was a whole lot darker. The Many Faces of… Daniel Craig

With the recent release of Skyfall I thought it would be a nice moment to look at the career of Daniel Craig and the many roles he has played through the years. He was born on the second of March 1968 in Chester. When growing up he already started acting at the age of 6. He remained interested in acting and joined the National Youth Theatre when he was sixteen. He continued to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he graduated in 1991.

He appeared on stage and made his first televion appearance in The Power of One. He appeared in several TV shows and small films. His first bigger role which people noticed was that opposite of Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider where he played Alex West. He has since appeared in various big productions like Road to Perdition, Munich, Cowboys and Aliens, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Golden Compass. Of course he’s best known for being cast as the most famous British spy 007, but has appeared in over 60 productions. Continue reading

Growing up I remember watching some of the Bond movies starring various actors playing the iconic character. I never really fell in love with this franchise however as I always had the feeling that they offered the same type of story time and time again. Rinse and repeat until it felt silly (which probably was because of the Roger Moore movies).

The franchise needed some new blood and made relevant again and with Daniel Craig and Casino Royale it was pushed into Bourne territory. I really liked the movie, but felt disappointed again after seeing Quantum of Solace. Although I wasn’t really excited about this new installement in the adventures of Bond I did decide to check it out with the hopes it would offer that which I loved in Casino Royale. Continue reading
