The quiz show has been a fixed part of TV programming for years on almost every channel. They are programs which are relatively cheap to make and contestants are easy to find. It was the same during the fifties and in America the show Twenty One was the most popular.

The show had two contestants (a challenger and a defending champion) who both are located in a sound proof booth and can’t see or hear each other. The presenter picks out a random card about a specific subjects and the contestants have to pick for how many points they want to play. The more points you choose, the more difficult the question. The winner is the one who reaches 21 points first. A big scandal related to the show was huge news for a while and could mean the end of the show. That scandal is the focus of this film. Strange Days (1995)

This is a movie you might want to watch if you are anticipating to buy those Google glasses (which allow you to record everything you see). Set in 1999, just days before the new year, Strange Days paints society as a violent one where the end of civilization might happen soon. In this world Lenny Nero (Ralph Fiennes) is a former cop who has become a dealer in experiences. A device has been developed which records everything a person experiences. Those recordings can be played back by another person who feels everything the original person does. It’s a lucrative business for Lenny, but he finds out it is a very dangerous one as well. Schindler’s List (1993)


There are some movies which you know you really have to see, but somehow never had. The reason I didn’t watch Schindler’s List before was mainly because of its heavy subject matter and it’s length. Before you watch it you already know it’s going to be tough to watch and that you won’t be feeling very happy afterwards. It might have taken some years, but now I finally have seen it and what an amazing piece of cinema it is. Continue reading
