Game Change (2012)

Recensie Game Change

Living in Europe I really don’t follow the elections in the United States in much detail. I will hear about who’s running for each party and occasionally see some background detail or some jokes about a candidate, but that’s about it. Game Change looks into the presidential election of 2008, when Obama was running against McCain. Continue reading

The Many Faces of… Woody Harrelson

Woody Harrelson

Woody Harrelson is this week’s star in “The Many Faces of…”. He became famous with his role as Woody Boyd in Cheers. He pursued a career in film as well and has been very successful with a long list of movies to his name. He has received 2 Oscar nominations (for his roles in The Messenger and The People vs. Larry Flint), but never won. Reading about his early life it was interesting to find out that his father was an actual contract killer (who got caught and died in prison) Continue reading

Zombieland (2009)

Horror movies. It’s one of the few genres I really don’t watch. I just don’t like to voluntarily be uncomfortable for an hour and a half watching gruesome stuff. It’s something I just don’t need and go out of my way to find. So it’s a genre which I just am not interested in.

One of things that is certain in such a situation is that there will be people who will die fighting. When this happens the army wants to inform the next of kin about it. Of course they want to do this before the next of kin hear it through the news or read it online. For this task messengers are used, who will have to tell the bad news. Captain Tony Stone (Woody Harrelson) and Staff Sergeant Will Montgomery (Ben Foster) are two people who have to perform this difficult job. Continue reading

Defendor (2009)

If Batman, Iron man and Spiderman are examples of superhero movies, then Defendor is an example of an anti-hero movies. Woody Harrelson is Defendor, a man who think he’s a superhero, but doesn’t have any superpower. Because of that he ends up in some very funny situations, but the movie is more than that. Continue reading
