The 5 Obstructions blogathon: Obstruction 2

The 5 Obstructions blogathon

Last month the 5 Obstructions blogathon started and I’m happy to see everyone participating, knowing it will run for a couple of months. You can find an overview of all current entries here. It is now the 1st of July, so time to reveal the Obstruction 2.

Obstruction 2 of the 5 Obstructions blogathon: Interview

Interview

So this is what I’m expecting from you this month. Write a review of any movie you like, but you’ll have to do an interview about the movie. You can interview anyone you want (except yourself of course), so interviewing a fellow blogger is fine.

Golden checkmark

I’ve thought up a small incentive though to push you to work harder at it though. If you manage to interview someone who was involved with the movie you are reviewing (it doesn’t have to be a director or an actor, a special effects creator or sound technician is also fine) I will give you a golden checkmark instead of a green one in the overview. So do check out the credits of the movie and start googling to find out if you can arrange it. If you think getting such an interview is too hard, you might want to check out a documentary or a smaller movie as the people who are involved might be more open to answer your questions.

Just like with Obstruction 1, you will have a whole month to write your post for Obstruction 2. Good luck!

If you are interested to also earn a golden checkmark for the first obstruction let me know in the comments and I’ll let you know what you will have to do to earn that one.

    • You can earn one if you make the review you have done for The Intouchables even more extreme. Write it as if it is the worst movie ever made. You can go all out and make it as crazy/funny/negative as you’d like (even if that means it is not convincing at all). Does that sound possible?

  1. I’d love to participate since I missed the first Obstruction, but it’s gonna be tough to do the interview w/ people involved in the movie. I’ll see what I can do 😀

    • You can still do the first obstruction if you want Ruth, would hate to see a red cross in the overview for the first one!

Yeah, of course it is tough…you have to do some extra work for that golden checkmark 😉

  2. My month is CRAZY BUSY, so I’m wimping out so-to-speak and simply interviewing a fellow blogger about a film he holds near and dear. I would have loved to interview someone who worked on a specific film, and while I know a few it would mean more time and work and I simply don’t have it right now (the wife is about to pop out a baby any day and that is going to cut my month in half).

Out of curiosity though, what would I need to do to make my first obstruction gold?

    • That is not a problem Andrew, looking forward to your entry. In order to make the first obstruction gold you could go all out and write the review like it is the best movie you’ve ever seen. It can be preposterous and unrealistic…just have fun with it.

  3. omg what should i do to earn that golden checkmark for the first obstruction? i think i’d like to give it ago… and i hope i would be able to interview a film maker for the 2nd obstructions too! 😀

  4. I just posted the 2nd Obstruction, the link is below. It’s a review of “AMELIA”, and an interview with Firdosi Wharton-Ali, who I’ve done some coverage for in the past. She worked with Ron Bass, the film’s Writer-Producer, for 7 years, and worked on many of the scripts he wrote, and she told me not to watch “Amelia”, ’cause it wasn’t that good. So I thought she’d have some interesting things to say. Hope you enjoy it.

  5. Sure, I’d be curious to know what I would have to do for a golden checkmark on the first obstruction. I also have a couple questions on this obstruction: Does it count if I use a short film instead of a feature length film? If not, does a podcast interview count?

    • If you want to get a golden checkmark for the first you basically have to post the review as it is the worst/best movie ever made. It can be as crazy as you want 🙂

As for your second question, not a problem if it is a short film and as long as you link to the interview from your review it’s fine with me!

  6. So I’m really late again this month, and I’ll probably not manage to put a post up before next week. If that’s not ok I’ll have to step out of the game 🙁

    • Awesome Ruth, really like that you managed to do this. Have heard a lot of great things about this documentary and it is high on my to watch list. Will be checking it out soon and the interview as well!
