Overview of the roles and movies of Aaron Eckhart

Aaron Eckhart was born on the 12th of March 1968 in Cupertino, California. In 1981 he moved to the UK in 1981 when his father got a job there. He went to the American Community School. There he started acting in a school production. In 1985 he moved to Australia where he continued acting at the American International School of Sydney. He didn’t finish his studies and spent time working at a movie theater and taking time out to surf and ski. He went back to the US in 1988 and was a film major for a while. He ended up graduating with a Bachelor degree for Fine Arts in 1994.

His first role was in 1992 in Double Jeopardy. His first big role was as a biker in Erin Brockovich. Other movie he was in include Nurse Betty, The Pledge, The Core and Paycheck. His big breakthrough came with Thank You For Smoking. He has since starred in a number of movies including The Dark Knight, Rabbit Hole, Battle Los Angeles, The Rum Diary and Olympus Has Fallen. Review of Olympus Has Fallen starring Gerard Butler

As a man you sometimes need to see a movie which feeds your primal instincts. A movie which is raw and visceral and packs a punch. Movies like Rambo and The Raid satisfy that need and show that you don’t need a lot of background story to do so. Olympus Has Fallen’s Rambo is Mike Banning, played by Gerard Butler. He is a former bodyguard of the president, who had to stop his service because something which happened in the past. The setting here is the White House and the bad guy is current Hollywood favorite, North Korea. Continue reading

Thursday (1998)

Years ago there was a movie shop that imported DVDs, which I visited regularly. Every week they mailed a newsletter which had various movie lists and interesting reviews of movies I never heard of.
One of the movies they talked about was Thursday, which was hard to get as it was only available by importing it from Germany. Because the staff had written raving reviews I decided to order this movie. As things usually go when I buy a movie it might take a while before I actually watch them. In this particular case it took years before I finally got around to seeing it. Is it a fine wine that I had left to ripen or is it a waste of time? Continue reading

Rabbit Hole (2010)

The loss of someone you love can have a lot of impact on someone’s life. It’s also something everyone responds differently to. Becca (Nicole Kidman) and Howie (Aaron Eckhart) have lost their son and do their best to try to move on with their lives, which isn’t easy. There is a lot of friction between the two and they can hardly talk about it with each other.
The have joined a therapy group to listen what other parents are doing that have gone through the same thing, but even this is hard for Becca. She really can’t handle it. Continue reading
