A Town Called Panic (2009)

A town called panic really is a very weird animated movie. Cowboy, Indian and Horse already had their own TV-series, but now star in a feature-length movie, which is created by making use of stop motion. The characters are simple miniature toys and have been animated very roughly (quite different if you compare it with something like Wallace and Grommit). To be honest, it really does not matter how it’s been animated as the focus are the story and the humor. Both are so well done that it will keep you captivated for its 75 minute running time. Toy Story 3 (2010)

Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toys are back for the final part of the Toy Story trilogy. The toys already have been through a lot in the first two movies. In the first one we saw the start of the friendship between Buzz en Woody, which they almost lost during the second movie because Woody was taken away by a collector. Because of their adventures the toys are a tight-knit group, who know that they can depend on each other.
Their owner Andy is getting older and is about to leave the house to go to college. He has lost interest in his toys and they are tucked away in a chest. Of course the toys are not happy, but it’s something they knew would come one day. Like in every relationship, they too enjoy the attention and affection they get, but those times seem to be a thing of the past. Continue reading

My neighbour Totoro (1988)

Tonari no Totoro, better known as My Neighbour Totoro is a magical movie. I’ve been a big fan of the Studio Ghibli cartoons for some years. Examples are Spirited Away, Howl’s moving castle and Ponyo. If i would need to choose between a Disney movie or a studio Ghibli film, i will pick the last one without thinking about it. Hayao Miyazaki surely know how to create magical world every time in which you will lose yourself. My neighbour Totoro is no exception. Continue reading
