Death at a Funeral (2010)

Death at a Funeral is a remake of the english version which was made in 2007. I have not seen the original, so I really can’t compare the two. I did see the trailer of the original and it shows the exact same jokes as the remake. The movie has a many big stars, like Chris Rock, Danny Glover, Martin Lawrence (who I think just isn’t funny), Zoe Saldana, Luke Wilson and Tracy Morgan. Continue reading

The A-Team (2010)

In the eighties the A-team was a very popular television series, which i loved watching growing up. I had a B.A.Baracus action figure, the A-team fan with several Faces, Murdochs, Hannibals and B.A.’s and the complete series of collectible cards. I still remember them coming to the Netherlands and seeing it on TV. The airport was crowded. They really were extremely popular.
A while ago Justin Lee Collins, who makes a series called “Bring backā€¦” (in which he tries to find the cast members of a specific show or movie and get them together again), tried to get the A-team together again. Of course George Peppard has already passed, but he did manage to meet the rest of the cast and some even got together for drinks. It really brought back memories and it also showed how old the cast has become.
When remaking the series into a movie it was a logical step to recast the iconic characters, something Mr.T didn’t approve of. Continue reading

Scratch (2001)

I’ve been listening to hiphop for many years and when I heard about this documentary about scratching I was very curious to see it. I’ve seen hiphop change over the years, but it is the DJ who has been responsible for the creation and development of this music, even though MCs now define it. The documentary shows where it originated and how DJing developed itself through the years. Continue reading

You don’t know Jack (2010)

The name Jack Kevorkian, also known as Doctor Death, is a very famous name. I did not know much about him though. HBO has made a movie about the work of this doctor. It gives insight into his way of thinking and why he did what he did. He helped at least 130 people (most terminally ill or without will to continue living because of their pain). Since 2002 euthanasia has been a legal process in the Netherlands, for which strict rules have to be followed before a patient can be helped with dying. In America however, it’s not legal. Kevorkian decided to try to make it legal to enable a grown up person to decide for himself if he wants to continue living or if he/she wants to die. Lees verder

The Book of Eli (2010)

After a big disaster of global scale there are always people who survive it. At least that we learn from movies like The Road , I Am Legend (which I gave a 6 ) and Waterworld. Of course this is almost necessary as it will become pretty hard to make an interesting movie (although the movie 9 managed to do it (which I gave a 7)). The Book of Eli also gives its vision on what a post apocalyptic world might look like. Continue reading
