Kick-ass (2010)

Does a superhero need to have special powers? Various superheroes have already shown this is not necessary (Iron Man or Batman). But what if you don’t have a large bank account to create special suits to suit your needs? Well, you order a diving suit online and call yourself Kick-ass, like Dave Lizewski does in this movie.

Alice in wonderland (2010)

After remaking Charlie and the chocolate factory, Tim Burton, using his typical look and dark humour (which i thought was not as good as the previous version) has done the same for Alice in wonderland. Does the movie with the white rabbit disappear down the black hole or does Burton manage to create a real wonderland? Continue reading

Iron Man 2 (2010)

The first Iron Man film was a very good superhero movie (which i gave an 8 at the time). It was a good movie that showed the origins of Iron man. Now that we know how he came to be, part 2 can crank up the action. Does Iron Man how to fly to great highs again or is there a malfunction in the suit that makes the movie crash horribly? Old dogs (2009)

Yeah, i know. A movie with John Travolta, Robin Williams (and a small part by Seth Green)…why would you watch that? None of them have made any really good movies lately. But sometimes i feel like watching a comedy where you know it won’t be a very good movie, but do know there will be some laughs. Old dogs is one of those comedies. Continue reading

The Hustler (1961)

When he has to play one of the best players in the country, a fat man named Minnesota Fats (Jackie Gleason), he has to face his own issues. Continue reading

Crazy Heart (2009)

There are a lot of movies about the lives of musicians. These can be based on real artists (Johny Cash (Walk the line), Edith Piaf (La môme), Ray Charles (Ray)) or made up (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story). This movie is about a made up character, the artist Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges), an old musician who is experiencing the fall of his career. Continue reading

Tales from the script (2009)

When you look at the pictures below, you probably won’t go “Ooh, that’s him and that’s that guy!”. When i write their names, Frank Darabont and Paul Schrader, you still probably won’t know who they are. Even when i name the following movie titles: The Green Mile, The Mist, Shawshank Redemption and Raging Bull, Taxi Driver it still will be hard to think of a way to connect those movies with the pictures below.
