The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009)

Review The Time Travelers Wife
Even though time travel movies is considered a separate genre, it is quite easy to make further distinctions within it. They can be adventurefilms, comedies or mysteries, but there are several of them which focus on romance. My favorites about the subject are About Time and the Christopher Reeve film Somewhere in Time. The Time Traveler’s Wife was a title which I hadnĀ“t seen yet, but had been wanting to for a very long time. Does this movie starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams manage to get a spot as one of my favorites? Continue reading

Mean Girls (2004)

Review Mean Girls

Nowadays Lindsay Lohan is better known for her appearances in the tabloids than for her acting, but before that all began she was a young, popular actrice who attracted a big (younger) audience. She appeared in various successful Disney movies as innocent girl, but girls do grow up. In Mean Girls we see her as teenager Cady Hero, who lived in Africa together with her parents and now has returned to the United States. It is the first time she has to go to school (as she was home schooled) and is unaware of life in high school. It’s a world with various subcultures in which nerds, jocks, alternative people and the popular girls all claim their own spot and have their own ways and it’s hard for her to find out the rules. One wrong conversation could mean that the dynamics within the groups changes. You could become an outcast. Continue reading

The Notebook (2004)

After several people advised me to see this movie, I decided to listen and watch it. The Notebook is a very romantic movie that is mainly set in the 1940’s. Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) sees Allie Hamilton (Rachel McAdams) around town and immediately is in love with her. She’s not interested in him, but after many times of him trying to go out on a date with her, she finally agrees. The two connect with each other and are inseparable until the end of summer. Alli has to leave to go back home. The question is whether their love for each other is strong enough to survive with the distance between them. Continue reading
