The Losers (2010)

I’m a big fan of heist and action movies. This movie, based on a comic, also is part of this genre so i definitely wanted to see it.

The Losers are a group of special forces soldiers who want to have their revenge on their boss after a mission doesn’t go according to plan.
They are forced to disappear (which made me think about the A-team) to make preparations to find their boss. To be able to do this they are helped by Aisha (played by Zoe Saldana)

I really like their boss, Max. He’s a wonderful bad guy and really was my favorite as he had some of the funniest lines i heard in ages.

Some of his quotes:

It’s like giving a handgun to a six-year-old, Wade – you don’t know how it’s gonna end, but you’re pretty sure it’s gonna make the papers.

Max: I’m saving the country, Wade – doing something for the benefit of the United States of America.
Wade: I was born in Quebec.
Max: Okay… then we’re saving *North* America.

Max: What the hell am I looking at here, Wade?
Wade: Clay and his unit.
Max: “Clay and his unit?” That sounds like a porno, Wade.

My favourite is a line which he repeats three times to his right hand man.

The Losers themselves are all interesting characters. Clay (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is the leader of the group, who constantly falls in love with the wrong women. Jensen (Chris Evans) is the technical guy with a weird taste for clothes. Idris Elba (which i know from his role in The Wire) as Roque. Pooch (Columbus Short) is the driver of the group and Cougar (Óscar Jaenada) is a silent, but deadly sniper.

It’s an interesting group of individuals that make a lot of jokes. The actors really gave me the feeling that they are this team that already knows each other for years and have done many missions together. They know each others strong and weak points.

The movie is a heist/action movie that has some big set pieces. Combined with the humor and the interesting characters it is a movie i thoroughly enjoyed. It’s definitely one to see if you like the genre.
