Point Blank (2010)

À bout portant

I love going into a movie knowing as little as I can about it. It’s not always possible to at least have a general idea, but movies usually surprise me. Point Blank is a French movie someone recommended to me which I didn’t know anything about and that in this case was great as I wasn’t prepared for the rollercoaster it took me on. If you don’t like to know anything at all about this movie just go check it out (it’s good) and else continue reading after the jump.

À bout portant

Samuel Pierret (Gilles Lellouche) is a nurse doing his work at the hospital. When a man (Roschdy Zem) is brought into the hospital he becomes involved in something he’s not ready for. His pregnant wife is kidnapped and he is told to take the man out of the hospital or his wife will be killed. It results in a movie which will not slow down at any moment to allow you to breathe as the man he has to try to get out of the hospital is a criminal who is pursued by various groups and Samuel just became part of that chase.

À bout portant

Gilles Lellouche is very good as the fish out of water character who does what probably anyone would try to do in such a situation. If I would need to compare this movie to another movie I’d probably compare it to something like Die Hard with someone ending up in a situation he wasn’t planning and then having to fight his way out of it. It’s not set in one location, but the idea is the same. If you love action movies then you can just pick this up blindly and I guarantee you will have a great time. Point Blank delivers foot chases, fights and an interesting story with lots of suspense, all shot in a way that keeps you interested.

Score: 8

  1. I am glad you liked this one matey. Lellouche is a great actor in this FAST paced thriller. He is also very good in the LONG Little White Lies (if you have’t seen it) and also in Tell No One too.

He is full of Gallic charm.

    Great write up matey

    • I don’t think I’ve seen him before (but then again I don’t watch many French movies). Nice to hear you’ve also seen this, thought you would also like this one while I was watching it.
