The Many Faces of… Jamie Foxx

Jamie Foxx was born on December 13, 1967 in Terrell, Texas. He was adopted shortly after birth. He started learning the piano when he was five. In his teens he played the piano and lead the choir at the local Baptist Church. In high school he had good grades and was very active in sports, wanting to play for the Dallas Cowboys. He was part of a band called Leather and Lace. He went to the United States International University where he studied classical music and composition. In 1989 he started as a comedian at a comedy club and two years later he became part of the cast of In Living Color. He also was in the sitcom Roc. In 1996 he got his own sitcom, called The Jamie Foxx Show.

His first movie role was in Toys (1992), followed by various roles in movies like The Great White Hype, Booty Call, THe Players Club and Any Give Sunday. With his roles in Collateral and Ray (for which he won an Oscar) he became well known. Other movies he has been in are Jarhead, Dreamgirls, Rio and Django Unchained. Besides his acting he also remained active as a musician and has released 4 cd’s: Peep This (1994), Unpredictable (2005), Intuition (2008) and Best Night of My Life (2010).
