Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac was born on March 9, 1979 in Guatemala and was raised in Miami. He played in a band named Blinking Underdogs. At school he usually got into quite a bit of trouble as he liked to do things which weren’t allowed. He studied drama in New York and graduated in 2005. His first major movie role was in The Nativity Story. In Robin Hood he played King John. Other movies he acted in were Drive and The Bourne Legacy. Inside Llewyn Davis meant his breakthrough and he has since has been doing impressive roles in movies like Ex Machina and A Most Violent Year. He will also play a role in the upcoming Star Wars and X-Men: Apocalypse movies. Continue reading

Olivia Thirlby

Olivia Thirlby was born on October 6, 1986 in New York City. When growing up she went to various performing arts festivals and summer camps an took classes at the American Globe Theatre and is trained in classical Shakespearian acting. Her first movie role was in United 93 and she also acted on TV in Kidnapped. Other movies she has starred in include Juno, The Wackness, New York, I Love You, Solitary Man, No Strings Attached, The Darkest Hour, Being Flynn, Dredd and The Wedding Ringer. Most anticipated movies 2015

2015 looks to be a great year for movies, especially if you are a fan of huge franchises both recent and from the eighties and nineties. Some might complain that there are way too many sequels being made, but at the end of the day moviemaking is still a business where these types of movies are needed in order to finance smaller movies. Plus looking at the biggest movies of the year I have a feeling that quite a few of them won’t only be successful, but also actually good. This is a list of the movies I’m mostly looking forward to. Miles Teller

Miles Teller was born on February 20, 1987 in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Growing up he liked music and played both the drums and saxophone. He took part in a drama club and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts. His first work on camera was in various short films. In 2007 he was driving along with some friends when the car crashed. He flew out of the car and still has several scars on his face and neck as a result. In an interview he stated that those scars helped him to get the role in Rabbit Hole. He has acted in Footloose, Project X, The Spectacular Now, 21 & Over, Whiplash, That Awkward Moment, Divergent, Two Night Stand and will be Mr. Fantastic in the new Fantastic Four movie. Rachel McAdams was born on November 17, 1978 in London, Ontario. Growing up she was into figure skating, which she did until she was eighteen. She went to Myrtle Street Public School and Central Elgin Collegiate Institute. She played sport in school and was very active taking part in various activities, like the student council and a help team. She got interested in acting at the age of seven and started appearing in theatre productions from the age of twelve. Later she decided to chase a career as an actress.

Her first appearance on the screen was an MTV pilot called Shotgun Love Dolls. She appeared in The Hot Chick and Guilt by Association, but she really got noticed when she played the bitchy Regina George in Mean Girls. It meant her breakthrough, which was cemented by her starring role in The Notebook in 2004. She since has appeared in many movies including Wedding Crashers, Red Eye, State of Play, The Time Traveler’s Wife, Sherlock Holmes, Morning Glory, Midnight in Paris, The Vow, To the Wonder, About Time and A Most Wanted Man. After watching Almost Famous recently for my 2015 Blindspot series I wanted to take a look at the career of one of its stars: Billy Crudup.

He was born on July 8, 1968 in Manhasset, New York. At age 8 he moved to Texas with his family and later to Florida where he graduated in 1986. He had a passion for acting and acted with the LAB! Theatre. The University of North Carolina had a show on which he acted called General College. After graduating he got a role on Broadway in Arcadia. He also started acting in films with one of his first roles in the movie Sleepers. He continued to work on stage as well and received various Tony awards. Mia Wasikowska was born 14 October 1989 in Canberra, Australia. Her parents are photographers. When she was nine she started training as a ballerina, with the goal of becoming a professional dancer. Because an issue with her heel and dissatisfaction with the industry she quit when she was fourteen. She was shy, but after seeing The Piano and A Woman Under the Influence she became inspired. She looked for talent agencies and managed to get invited by one.

Her first role was on the Australian soap All Saints in 2004 and at age 15 she played in her first movie, Suburban Mayhem. Her first US role was in HBO’s drama In Treatment. She followed this by roles in Defiance, Amelia, That Evening Sun. Her first big role was in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Other movies she played in include The Kids Are All Right, Jane Eyre, Restless, Albert Nobbs, Lawless, Only Lovers Left Alive, The Double and Maps to the Stars. Continue reading

Mark Ruffalo

Mark Ruffalo was born on November 22, 1967 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. During his teen year he lived in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He wrestled in competitions during his junior high and high school years. He later to moved to L.A., where he took classes at the Stella Adler Conservatory. After co-founding the Orpheus Theatre Company he wrote, directed and acted in various plays while working as a bartender. He played minor roles in various films and thanks to a meeting with Kenneth Lonergan he started collaborating with him and eventually got him a role in You Can Count on Me. Various other movies followed including XX/XY, My Life Without Me, In the Cut, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Collateral besides doing various romcoms. Other notable performances are those in Zodiac, The Brothers Bloom, The Kids Are All Right. Recently he played Bruce Banner and his alter ego The Hulk in the Avengers. Continue reading
