My most anticipated movies for 2015

Most anticipated movies 2015

2015 looks to be a great year for movies, especially if you are a fan of huge franchises both recent and from the eighties and nineties. Some might complain that there are way too many sequels being made, but at the end of the day moviemaking is still a business where these types of movies are needed in order to finance smaller movies. Plus looking at the biggest movies of the year I have a feeling that quite a few of them won’t only be successful, but also actually good. This is a list of the movies I’m mostly looking forward to.

Terminator: Genisys

Terminator Genisys
Ok, I’ll admit that I haven’t enjoyed any of the Terminator movies after the second one, but when a new one is announced I still feel a bit of excitement and hope that this one will reach the high levels of those first two films. With Schwarzenegger back again this could be good (at least I hope it will be).

Spectre

Spectre
After the reboot of the Bond franchise with Daniel Craig, the quality of the films has been extremely high and there is no reason to doubt this one won’t be either. You know what to expect from a Bond movie and in this case I’m looking forward to another serving.

Furious 7

Furious 7
I’ve said it before, but the Furious movies have always been a guilty pleasure for me. It is a franchise which has managed to reinvent itself and which after six movies is still relevant and interesting. The last shot of the previous movie, showing Jason Statham, already made me look forward to this seventh instalment, but I’m also curious to see how the series says goodbye to Paul Walker.

Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation

Mission Impossible
Even though Tom Cruise is getting older he’s still an actor that impresses, especially because he insists on doing a lot of stunts himself. The shots in the last movie of him walking on the side of one of the highest buildings in the world were breathtaking and can’t wait to see what he’ll have in store for this one.

The Hateful Eight

Hateful eight
Every Quentin Tarantino movie to me is an event and not to be missed. So it is a no brainer to head to the cinema to check this one out. It is a movie which he almost didn’t want to make after the script leaked, but I understood Samuel L. Jackson convinced him to go ahead.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Avengers Age of Ultron
Everything Marvel Studios touches turns into gold and for good reason. Their movies are true thrill rides and the previous Avengers movie was no exception. It is a joy to see all these superheroes, who we have come to know through their own standalone movies, working together. A movie which is sure to be one of the most visited movies of the year and one which many people have as the top grossing movie of the year.

Jurassic World

Jurassic World
The dinosaurs will be back again as well this year and even though this might not be directed by Steven Spielberg it is always enjoyable to see prehistoric creatures come to life and threaten the lives of the main characters.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Star Wars
Ever since the first trailer hit for the new Star Wars movie there isn’t a movie site which you can visit which doesn’t have some news about it. A new Star Wars movie is an event to a lot of people and therefore it is one I just have to go see, if only to be able to see if this one is better than the previous three films.

Which movies are you looking forward to?

  1. I really are waiting for above mentioned titles but with less expectations for Terminator: Genisys (just like you pointed out the last two weren’t that good) and Furious 7 (5 was pretty cool, 6 was less entertaining).

But further than that I am also looking forward to:
    – Mad Max: Fury Road (Tom Hardy and trailer is stunning)
    – Bridge of Spies (Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Coen Brothers, WTF?)
    – Tomorrowland (Brad Bird!)
    – The Revenant (Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and Leonardo DiCaprio)
    – The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part II (although the first part was a let down)
    – Crimson Peak (Guillermo del Toro directing a horror movie again)
    – Entourage (Let’s hug it out, B*tch!)

    • Yeah, I really doubt the Terminator movie will be good, but since I love the first two so much I always have that hope when a new one comes out.

Haven’t watch any trailers, so I don’t know much about the movies you mention, but they sound interesting!

  2. I would say I’m most looking forward to Star Wars, Avengers and Spectre. Especially Spectre. Minions and Mockingjay Part II are also quite high on my must-see list.

  3. I agree w/ most of them here, Nostra. I’m seeing Furious 7 next week, but I wish I could see Spectre, Jurassic World, MI5 and Age of Ultron soon! Oh I also can’t wait to see the Minion movie, looks like a hoot!

    • Yeah, I’m going to try to see Furious 7 as soon as I can. To be honest that is the movie I’m looking forward to the most out all of these 🙂

  4. There are a hell of a lot of films coming out this year that I’m looking forward to – share a lot in common with your list with Spectre, F&F 7, Jurassic World, Hateful Eight and Star Wars. Tomorrowland is up there for me. Brad Bird’s a fave of mine. But if I had to choose just one film, it’s got to be Spectre. I have really loved seeing where they’ve taken the James Bond storyline in the last few films – excited to see where it goes next.
