Alternative posters – Some of my favorites

I have a dream of one day owning a cinema room, which is something I’ve been thinking about for a long time. If that room ever comes into existence I want some cool posters on the walls. Through the years I’ve been saving and bookmarking a lot of them and I though it would be a cool idea to share some of my favorites with you.

Moxy Creative has some very cool ones based on iconic clothes:

This Moon poster by Simon C Page perfectly captures the movie:

Cool Material has several awesome minmalist posters:

As you know my all time favorite movie is Black Swan, so I would have to have this poster (which won the 2010 movie poster awards):

Old Red Jalopy has created this great Old Boy poster:

There are many awesome Back to the Future poster, but I always liked these two:

If you would buy some of these posters and spending your hard earned money on it you would want to protect them against the radiation of the sun. I think you know that a poster or picture loses its colors because of it. Wholesale Poster Frames offers frames with UV protection, which will make sure that the posters will stay as fresh as they were when they were bought. Well worth looking into in my opinion.

Jaina from Time Well Spent recently posted this awesome Totoro poster made by Victor Vercesi:

This Lion King poster just captures the movie perfectly:

Some other cool minimalist posters (don’t know the makers of these):

And finally this The Skin I Live In poster:

And if you are able to make some cool posters yourself, you might want to check out instantprint.co.uk .

  1. I’m a big fan of the alternative posters.

Of this bunch “Moon”, “Black Swain”, and “The Lion King” are my favorites.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. I remember when I did my alternative poster post.. man.. I still love them more than regular posters! Totoro one is fab!

    PS: I came, I saw, I commented! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€

  3. Those are awesome posters. Being a designer I can say that a lot of design trends come from movies posters. It’s a medium that I unfortunately haven’t had a chance to work in. Would love to but I’m more in the corporate sector. πŸ™

Hope you get that man cave soon buddy!!

  4. Love these and I love this new trend of minimalist posters. That Reservoir Dogs poster is brilliant. Olly Moss does some fantastic ones too.

  5. Always a fan of the fan made-alternative posters for films. They’re just so much more creative and unique than what the studios push out – overly photoshopped and the never ending “character” posters. *yawn*

The series of those Black Swan ones are among my favourite.

    • Yeah, but I guess they wouldn’t sell the movie if they were real. Since you’ve seen the movies you know what most of them mean, but I don’t think they would appeal to mass audiences in order to get them into seats.

Black Swan ones are also my favorite, they really are beautiful.
