If you want to know more about the point in our history, that was the most dangerous to the greatest achievements of the humanity, you should definitely watch the new movie” the Monuments Men”. It is directed by George Clooney and produced by Columbia Pictures.
As we see in the The Monuments Men trailer, this movie centers on seven men who were drafted into the war in order to fight for something else than territory and ideologies. They were fighting for art, past and history. The Monuments men were the ones who were tasked with finding and defending over 5 million of stolen artifacts. The artworks were all stolen by the Nazis because Hitler wanted to not only destroy a generation, but also its past and its future. That’s the point when the greatest achievements of the human kind were threatened in the most dangerous way, by the worst powers that have ever ruled in Europe.
The claimed monuments men were art people and not soldiers or aggressive fighters. They were people who wanted the best for the future of the civilization. That’s what they tried to do and that’s what it is portrayed in “The Monuments Men” movie.
We should really appreciate the fact that today we can watch a movie that tells such an incredible true story, adding to it a sense of humor and an extremely talented play. The cast, starring amazing actors like Cate Blachett, George Clooney, matt Damon, John Goodman and Bill Murray, add a super genuine drop of reality to the movie, as their play can make us believe it all within seconds. There is nothing better than a movie that has such a great cast, true events and a bunch of information all of us should learn.
This year, do not miss the chance to watch the Smokehouse production and to learn from it many things about the World War II and the way the monuments men protected the history of civilization. “The Monuments Men” is the movie that shows how one thousand years of creation and history were almost destroyed, but saved at the right time, by seven brave men.
Bravo! I’m thrilled to hear someone else talk about this film with positivity. It has received a time of negative press but I thoroughly enjoyed it. For me It showed the importance of the mission while also giving us characters that I really liked. I’ve felt alone on this one. But I can’t help it. I really really like it.
I have not seen it myself, but hope I will be able to enjoy it.
Thank you for this. I saw the movie and thought it to be a well done and overall very enjoyable film. I do not understand the backlash this has gotten from the media. I know 3 other people who saw it and thought it was also good. Sure it won’t be on oscar nominated film (and maybe that is why the critics hated on it) but still well acted, funny, and the story was true and amazing. I would easily watch this movie again.
Still have to see it but want to see if I like it as much as some have.
