The Better Film: The Wolf of Wall Street vs Wall Street

There always discussions between people when comparing two (very good) movies, which usually comes down to one question:
If you have to pick only one, which is the better film?

My goal is to have that discussion in the comments and see which of the two gets the most support, thus being the better film of the two. This does not mean the other one is bad, it is just to see which one is the preferred choice.

Last time I put two spiritually linked movies up against each other (Scarface vs. Carlito’s Way) and thought it would be interesting to do the same again. This time both are movies about Wall Street. Although they are both about the excesses that the life style offers, it is Wall Street which actually focussed on someone fighting it, whereas the other felt more like a celebration of it. Which of these two do you think is the better film?

  1. The Wolf of Wall Street. I like Wall Street for its sense of corruption but it gets ruined by its very unnecessary sequel. Plus, The Wolf of Wall Street is much more fun to watch in all of its insanity.

    • But you shouldn’t think about the sequel, which I agree was rubbish. I like the insanity of Wolf, but don’t think it is a movie I could watch as much as Wall Street myself.

  2. “Wall Street” – Time will prove it is the film with legs and people remember. Give me a quote from “Wolf” that is on par with, “Greed is Good.” Though Leo did an excellent job with his performance, Gordan Gecko is the man.
