Fist Fight (2016) – Review

Review Fist Fight

It is the last day of school and at Roosevelt High School it means that the students are allowed to pull pranks all day. This results in a school at which not everything goes as it normally does and it is a challenge for the teachers to “survive” the day as anything can happen with either their car or during their classes. Andy Campbell (Charlie Day) doesn’t realise at the start of the day what his will look like, but it will be a lot worse than he can imagine. Grumpy history teacher Ron Strickland (Ice Cube) asks him to help him, but because of what happens next it gets Strickland fired. He wants revenge and challenges Andy to a fight, after school, outside.

Review Fist Fight

Fist Fight is a comedy in which we see Ice Cube play the role he previously played in the Jump Street movies. A man who doesn’t take shit and will have extreme fits of rage. In other words it is a role which isn’t refreshing and where he does exactly what you’d expect. Day is the focus of the film, whose character just manages to get himself into more and more trouble in order to make sure he can keep his job and do everything to prevent fighting. Because of it he ends up in various funny situations.

“simple humour …”

Fist Fight is a movie with simple humour and that’s about it. So if you can’t stand jokes about inappropriate sex, fits of rage and embarrassing situations it is a title you shouldn’t check out. If you are in the mood for these this still isn’t at the top of its genre, but you will probably get some laughs out of it. This is a case of just watching the trailer: If you like that you’ll have a nice time and else just skip it.
