Dirty God (2019) – Review

Dirty God review
Na American Honey or Rosario Dawson in Kids or Jennifer Lawrence. They were able to act natural in front of the camera and make a lasting impression. It requires a very good eye from a director or someone in casting. Vicky Knight plays the lead role in Dirty God. She had never acted before and for a long time declined the offer to play the lead role in here. After the director kept persevering, she finally agreed and managed to portray a strong character in this film.

Dirty God bespreking
She plays Jade, a young mother who has to learn to live with the consequences of an acid attack. Her face and body contain heavy scars and it is difficult for her to cope with other people’s reactions and feel confident again.

“anything but rosy…”

Dirty God is not a movie that sets you up to feel good. The circumstances in which Jade is living are anything but rosy. Her mother does not really support her and tells Jade’s daughter that Jade is a friendly monster, her colleagues make jokes about her etc. There are brighter moments, but it feels like they could be extinguished at any moment. With a relatively thin plot, this is not a film for everyone. Yet Knight, who survived a fierce fire as a child and suffered serious burns, knows how to give the film a heart and is not afraid to expose herself (also literally). You feel for her character because of her convincing acting, even though this is her first role.
