Through all my years of movie watching I had never seen any of the Marx brothers movies. Surely I had heard of them and knew what Groucho Marx looked like, but I didn’t know about their movies and their comedy. King Kong (1933)

King Kong is one of the most famous monsters the film industry has produced. This original 1933 version has resulted in many remakes, the latest being a faithful recreation in 2005 by Peter Jackson (which also follows the same story as the original including a spider scene which was cut from the original) By now everyone knows the story about a movie producer who wants to shoot his next movie on a far away island, which turns out to be inhabited by dinosaurs and a big gorilla. The star of the movie, Ann Darrow (Fay Wray) is captured by the gorilla and the rest of the crew decide to fight the monster to get her back. Continue reading
